I was born in a small town and was raised around and cared for
farm animals as a child. I have
always had a desire to work with and train the animals -
Though no matter how hard I tried, I
always unsuccessful at teaching
the chickens to fly. My family had horses but we sold them when we moved
to the city. I have always loved horses and could not wait to get a
horse of my own - so when I was old enough to buy and care for a horse, I did and I have never looked back. I have spent
almost every day since caring for my own and other peoples horses.
I have had the great fortune to meet and make friends with many
amazing people: people that have influenced me a great deal in how I
train horses and in my personal life. Though the most influential of all
have been my horses. Most especially A-R Shiloh Dee,
a horse that was my best friend for many years till his passing.
Shiloh would leave the herd and come in out of a fifty acre field just
to be with me and he would follow me all the way to the gate. At shows
he would give everything he had to make it a great performance. Even
when others people would show him he always gave his all.
I have learned that as much as I
love the thrill of competition, what I enjoy the most is working with the
horses everyday.
I would say that the
hardest part of training a horse, is when it is time for the horses to
go home. Though, when
I hear back from the owners and how excited they are for their horse and
the good experiences they are having with them; it makes it worth while.
The greatest lesson that my horses have taught me is that life is
what you make of it - so live it to the fullest.
